The renovated People's Museum of Military Glory was opened in Gorodok
Wreaths of Glory were laid at the memorial sign of the 12 military formations that liberated the district center, and at the "Immortality" memorial. Exhibitions dedicated to the memory of the Red Army soldiers were also held. Students, participants of the "We Won!" campaign, gathered in the central square, holding portraits of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers who fought against the Nazis. The Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, attended the festive events.
— Hundreds of military burials, monuments, and obelisks remind us of the price paid by the liberators of Gorodok land so that people can work peacefully, grow bread, and raise children today, — said Vladimir Vladimirovich. — It is our sacred duty to preserve their memory and pass it on to future generations.
In addition, the head of the regional council participated in the grand opening of the People's Museum of Military Glory at Secondary School No. 1. This year, the exhibition space of the museum, which has been operating in the educational institution since 1983 and received the title of "People's" in 2001, has been significantly expanded. The core of the exhibition consists of materials about the district during the occupation, its liberation, and the exploits of fellow countrymen during the war.
