The renovated district culture center in Shumilino will open in the spring of 2018
The total project cost is over 840 thousand rubles. Of this amount, 298 thousand rubles were utilized by the end of 2017, explained Valentina Novitskaya, Head of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the Shumilino District Executive Committee.
The capital repair with modernization is scheduled for completion in April, but it will be too early to talk about commissioning the building, as it will require the replacement of old electrical wiring and interior finishing of the premises, the walls of which were damaged during the thorough reconstruction.
How quickly all this can be done depends on funding: if there is money, there will be a new culture center in Shumilino. In the meantime, it is temporarily housed at four addresses: in the central district library, the children's art school, an adapted building on Lunacharskogo Street, and premises on Volodarskogo Street, where the children's art school was previously located. Halls of schools and rural club institutions are used for mass events.
The facility, commissioned in 1974, has long needed renovation. Over the past years, only cosmetic repairs were carried out there, which did not solve all the problems. Therefore, in 2017, it was finally decided to allocate funds from the district budget for a radical transformation of the building, which serves as the center of cultural life in the region.
A project was developed, including the modernization of the roof, thermal renovation of the building, and the installation of a new entrance group, and work began in the autumn. Perhaps the most complex part of it is the reconstruction of the four-level roof, which will become sloped. This entails strengthening the walls and foundation, on which the load will increase.
