An updated resource center has opened at the Gorodok Agricultural and Technical College

Обновленный ресурсный центр открылся в Городокском аграрно-техническом колледже

Practical training for agricultural specialists should take up the main part of the educational process. This opinion was expressed at the opening ceremony of the renovated resource center of the Gorodok Agricultural Technical College by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev.

"Practice should take up the main time. Without it, we will not get a ready-to-work specialist, so consistently, starting next year, we will address the issue of doubling the practice in spring and autumn," emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev.

According to him, the curriculum has already been changed to increase the time allocated for practical training. A corresponding material base has been formed at the Gorodok Agricultural College, allowing students to acquire professional knowledge without interrupting production. Future plans include replenishing the resource center's equipment fleet with machines from world manufacturers. "They should be present in the center's machine park. Familiarity with all models will allow students to broaden their horizons and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of all machines," the head of the region is convinced.

The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee emphasized the importance of maintaining the approach adopted last year, where agricultural students undergo practical training only in the best agricultural organizations equipped with modern technology. "The approach remains the same, it is a mandatory requirement. I think in a couple more years, there will be no farms left in the region that do not meet this standard. The region will have absolutely modern agriculture," the governor stressed.

The Director of the Gorodok Agricultural Technical College, Vladimir Shitko, added that the ratio of theoretical and practical classes at the educational institution is 60% to 40%. "We need to continue moving in this direction. The task of students in the senior years undergoing practical training is not

less than six months during the peak of agricultural work is quite feasible. "Next year, our team, together with the Republican Institute of Vocational Education, is ready to conduct an experiment on organizing such a practice," said the head of the college.

The resource center at the Gorodok Agricultural Technical College has been operating since 2004. Today, its grand opening took place after a major upgrade of its material and technical base. Almost all Belarusian agricultural machinery manufacturers provided assistance in equipping the center on a gratuitous basis, allocating their latest models of machinery and equipment for a total amount of Br700 thousand. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee allocated over Br200 thousand for the purchase of diagnostic equipment.
