Public reception offices have started operating in all city and district executive committees of the Vitebsk region

Twenty-eight public reception offices for providing free legal assistance to citizens have been established and are operating in the Vitebsk region, Elena Romanovskaya, head of the department for working with citizens' appeals of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. Public reception offices operate at all city and district executive committees, as well as in three district administrations of the regional center. Reception in them is carried out daily by employees of courts, prosecutor's offices, notary offices, lawyers, as well as officials according to approved schedules, which are published monthly in the press, posted on stands and on the websites of government bodies. The first public reception office began operating in May 2009 at the Regional Executive Committee and proved its effectiveness. Last year, the number of citizens' appeals to the Administration of the President from the Vitebsk region decreased by 10%. This year, specialists in working with citizens' appeals noted a significant decrease in issues addressed to the chairman of the Regional Executive Committee concerning healthcare and transport services. According to Elena Romanovskaya, the work of the public reception office, where officials or qualified lawyers promptly assisted people, largely contributed to resolving these issues. It was decided to extend the experience of the public reception office of the Regional Executive Committee to all executive committees. Daily reception has been conducted in them since October 1 of this year. According to the interviewee, their work will contribute to the prompt resolution of issues that concern people and the prevention of appeals to higher authorities. -0-
