The total service record of four generations of the Malikov-Orlovsky dynasty at the Orsha Flax Mill is 675 years
Flax and Love
The Orsha Flax Mill is one of the largest full-cycle enterprises in the world, where fiber is turned into finished products, and the only one in Belarus that produces linen fabrics. More than 3,000 people work in six factories with state-of-the-art equipment, including many labor dynasties. The pride of the flax mill is the Malikov-Orlovsky family. The total work experience of 28 employees from four generations of the dynasty is 675 years. They have worked and continue to work in various production areas of all six factories of the enterprise. Having visited the industrial giant, you understand why people choose to work at the Orsha Flax Mill, passing the baton from generation to generation. — The founder of the dynasty is my grandfather, Malikov Nikolai Fyodorovich. He came to the enterprise in 1945 and worked as a turner in the mechanical workshop for 23 years. In 1946, his wife, my grandmother Evdokia Mikhailovna, got a job at the mill. They had five children, and each of them began their working life at the Orsha Flax Mill, — says Marina Orlovskaya, head of the quality management department, who keeps the chronicle of the dynasty.28 representatives are relatives whose information is documented: when they came and left the enterprise, some dedicated their entire lives to it and received awards. For example, the daughter-in-law of the dynasty's founders, Evdokia Malikova, worked as a weaver and a finisher in the dyeing shop from 1968 to 1986 and was awarded the Order of Lenin. Great-granddaughter Karina Maksimova worked as a spinner for ten years and twice won the competition for the title of "Best Young Worker." And the number of honorary diplomas for valiant labor received by the dynasty's representatives is countless!
Today, eight representatives of the third and fourth generations of the dynasty work at the Orsha Flax Mill. Their total work experience alone is 241 years!
Vaccinations of Love
— We lived and still live near the mill. There is a kindergarten nearby, which I attended, and I learned to swim in the enterprise's pool. The mill had three sponsored schools, whereincluding mine. We went to harvest flax (it was done manually then), put it out to dry, handed it in, and got good money," recalls Marina Viktorovna. Thus, from childhood, a love for flax was regularly instilled, so the choice of profession was never in question: she decided to enter the Vitebsk Technological Institute as an engineer-technologist. She married Yuri Orlovsky, gave birth to a child, and transferred to part-time studies. She came to the combine in 1985 as a laboratory assistant in the research laboratory. She held various engineering positions, up to chief engineer of the combine, was deputy general director for quality, and now head of the quality management department.
"My responsibilities include controlling production processes and products at all six factories, and certification. Consumer claims regarding our goods come to me. It's pleasant that people also contact us with gratitude, and simply for advice on care," says Marina Viktorovna.
"Niva" as a Gift
Yuri Vladimirovich is also local. He was the first from the Orlovsky side to come to the flax combine in 1979 as a fitter, directed by the Orsha Mechanical-Technological College. He worked, served in the army, and returned. He graduated from the Kostroma Technological Institute through correspondence courses. In 44 years, he has worked as an assistant foreman, shift foreman, head of a workshop, leading process engineer, and chief engineer. Now he is the director of the finishing factory, where raw fabric is refined: bleached, dyed, and brought to a marketable appearance. Two years ago, for high work results and skillful organization, Yuri Vladimirovich was awarded the medal "For Labor Merits.""I spent my childhood at my grandmother's in the Dubrovensky district. Flax was grown in every collective farm then: you went beyond the outskirts, and there they were, the fields. In the seventies, plots were allocated to each house, and we went to harvest flax. This work was respected and well-paid. The link leader made sure that the sheaves were neat and tidy. It is etched in my memory that one of these workersfor conscientious work, they were awarded a "Niva" car," recalls Yuri Orlovsky.
From Workers to Managers
The third generation of the dynasty, in addition to the Orlovsky couple, includes Marina Viktorovna's cousins Konstantin Samotsvetov and Vitaly Chernysov, cousin Tatyana Osipova, and the wife of Tatyana Vladimirovna's brother, Svetlana Malikova.Konstantin Samotsvetov also graduated from the Kostroma Technological Institute. For 39 years of work at the flax mill, he was a leading technologist, head of a workshop, chief engineer of the "Dnepr" factory, and today heads the technical department.
Vitaly Chernysov has been working as a loader in the transport workshop for all 30 years. This year, for his conscientious work, he was included in the Honor Roll of the Orsha Flax Mill.
Tatyana Osipova has been working as a fabric assembler at Factory No. 2 for the same amount of time, and Svetlana Malikova, after receiving a diploma from Vitebsk State Technological University, has been distributing work at the finishing factory for 40 years.
The fourth generation of the dynasty is represented by the Orlovskys' son and Marina Viktorovna's niece. Vladislav graduated from VSTU and has been a shift supervisor at Fabric Factory No. 3 for five years. Elena Khonikova, after receiving a diploma from BSU, worked as a salesperson at the enterprise for 15 years, and today she is a merchandiser in the sales department.
Increasing Efficiency
The Orsha Flax Mill has undergone large-scale modernization in recent years, which continues to this day. Thanks to modern equipment, production efficiency has increased 2.5 to 3 times, and the quality of fabric and working conditions have improved."When I came to the mill, about 10,000 people worked here. Now there are three times fewer, but we produce even more products," says Yuri Vladimirovich.
There are areas at the enterprise where manual labor cannot be eliminated. For example, flax
The scutching shop is the very first in the flax processing technological chain. New Chinese machines have been installed here, but without operators of flax scutching equipment, it's impossible. It's not easy work. To attract people, management and the trade union are trying to improve working conditions and expand social support.
The mill provides good financial support to parents whose children are going to school; in the autumn, everyone receives financial assistance for purchasing vegetables. A clause is included in the collective agreement, according to which each employee will receive an amount equal to 20 basic units upon annual leave.
— Foreigners consider tablecloths or linen clothing a luxury, but for the workers of the Orsha Flax Mill, flax is all over the house: on the bed, table, windows, in the closet, because for every holiday we receive high-quality products from our own enterprise as a gift, — says Marina Viktorovna.
The Orsha Flax Mill is the largest textile enterprise in Europe and one of the largest in Orsha. The Orlovsky couple hopes that it will always be this way and that their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and subsequent generations of descendants will continue the dynasty.
Support for the body, joy for the soul
The range of social support at the Orsha Flax Mill is wide. There is its own rental housing, where single young specialists receive a room equipped with appliances, and families receive apartments. The enterprise provides medical insurance for each employee. In addition, once a year, any employee can order a voucher to a sanatorium for themselves or their child to the enterprise's health resort in a pine forest. There is also its own health complex, swimming pool, gym, sauna, and fitness room. The mill provides good financial support to parents whose children are going to school; in the autumn, everyone receives financial assistance for purchasing vegetables.
