Gifted pupils and students gathered at the festival "Student Agricultural Spring-2009" in Vitebsk

May 6, Minsk / Yulia Vanina - BELTA /. Gifted pupils and students from all regions of Belarus gathered at the IV Festival "Student Agricultural Spring-2009" in Vitebsk. As the first secretary of the BRSM Central Committee, Yuri Krivodubsky, told a BELTA correspondent, teams of three to five people from universities or colleges of agricultural profile are taking part in this now traditional event this year. According to the youth leader, solving the problems of the village is one of the priorities in the socio-economic development of the country. "That is why the BRSM considered it its duty to actively engage in career guidance activities among students. And the festival is the best way to involve young men and women in a dialogue, to show them all the best that our native land holds, to talk with them about choosing a profession and their place in life," noted Yuri Krivodubsky. Today, at the Vitebsk Academy of Veterinary Medicine, an assembly of academic high-achievers will be held within the framework of the festival. Together with teachers and scientists, they will discuss the problems and prospects for the development of the industry, and the possibilities of combining study and scientific activities at a special round table meeting. The bright minds will also have the opportunity to visit the research institute of biotechnology of the university. Today's review competition of concert programs promises to be interesting, which includes the presentation "I Chose a Profession..." and a program prepared in one of the six nominations: author's song, instrumental art, vocal and choral art, choreography, artistic reading, and other genres. The creative groups and individual performers who arrived in Vitebsk are the winners of local amateur art competitions. The festival will conclude on May 7 with a gala concert and an award ceremony for the winners. In parallel, at the festival, students and pupils took to the sports grounds of "Sportlandia-2009". Among the teams of young athletes, the students of Smilovichi College were the best. The organizers of the event this year were the Vitebsk Academy of Veterinary Medicine with the active support of the zooveterinary association "Agrarian Education, Science and Production" and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. It is noteworthy that this year is a jubilee year for the Vitebsk Academy, as it turns 85 years old. The festival "Student Agricultural Spring-2009" became one of the first events dedicated to the university's birthday. -0-
