One of the country's largest climbing walls has opened in Horadok

The width of the artificial structure, the surface of which is modeled as a mountain relief, is 12 m, and the height is 6 m.



— In terms of its size and level, it is among the top five climbing walls in Belarus, — said Vladimir Novichenok, head of the department of education, sports and tourism of the Horadok District Executive Committee. — Eight routes of varying difficulty are provided, on which 10 people can work simultaneously in pairs. Also, 2 tracks for tourist and applied all-around competitions have been installed.



The climbing wall is located in the large hall of Secondary School No. 2, where repairs were carried out. The location was not chosen by chance — a sports tourism club operates at the school. Previously, children trained in the small gym, the walls of which are an attraction of passages, ascents and descents with the use of safety equipment. The preparation of the premises for the climbing wall and the purchase of equipment were financed by the district budget, saved from the optimization of the education institution network, noted Vladimir Novichenok. The total cost of the facility was about 22 thousand rubles.

The solemn opening ceremony of the climbing wall was attended by the head of the region, Nikolai Sherstnev, and the chairman of the regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev.

— The main thing is that children are physically strong and healthy, — noted Nikolai Nikolaevich. — The work we have started on reducing costs in the education sector makes it possible to invest the saved funds, including in the improvement of the sports sector.

Nikolai Nikolaevich also noted that Horadok District has great potential for the development of sports and tourism. For example, this year the construction of a sports and recreation complex will be completed, shortcomings on the ski and roller ski track will be eliminated, in particular, lighting will be installed there, a rental point and catering facilities will appear.








Following the official part of the event, a district tourism festival was held in the sports hall, with children's teams participating. Vitebsk rock climbing masters also performed with demonstration performances for the children.
