One of the largest climbing walls in Belarus will appear in Horadok
The climbing wall will be located in the large hall of Secondary School No. 2 in Horadok, which has undergone preliminary renovation. A sports tourism club also operates in this school. Children train in the small hall, the walls of which are a whole attraction of passages, ascents, and descents using safety equipment. So, with the appearance of a real climbing wall, this area will develop. Two coaches with experience in tourist and applied all-around competitions will work with everyone who wishes to participate.
"The width of the future climbing wall is 9 m, and the height is 6 m. As far as we know, there are several such facilities in Minsk, and ours can well compete with them in terms of size. We know that a climbing wall has also appeared in Postavy, but the dimensions there are smaller. In addition, ours consists of five routes, meaning that 10 people can work on it simultaneously in pairs. There are even negative angles, where the climber essentially hangs on a rope," explained the Department of Education, Sports, and Tourism of the district executive committee.
"For now, training will continue as additional education for children. But we want to make the climbing wall accessible to adults as well, and we are currently working on options for organizing such services. In general, we pay a lot of attention to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. - added the Department of Education, Sports, and Tourism of the district executive committee. - Our project won the I Competition of Local Initiatives of the EU/UNDP project "Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Support for the Modernization of the Healthcare System in the Republic of Belarus" (BELMED). We will create a sports and recreation complex on the basis of Secondary School No. 1 and a children's health camp. All grounds will be updated: the stadium, halls for team sports, a hockey rink, there will be trails for Nordic walking, a ropes course, as well as a site for teaching schoolchildren the basics of safety and road traffic rules."
