Eleven diplomas were won by Vitebsk students at the packaging design competition in Moscow

October 2, Vitebsk / Sergei Kotovets - BELTA /. Students of the Vitebsk State Technological University won eleven diplomas at the international student competition for the best packaging design "Zavodnoy Apelsin-2009" in Moscow, Associate Professor of the Department of Design of the university Natalia Tarabuko told a BELTA correspondent. Vitebsk students have three gold, three silver, and five bronze awards. Works of seven more Vitebsk contestants were awarded diplomas from founders and partners. This year, the competition featured 283 works by students from 33 educational institutions in Belarus, Russia, Armenia, and Ukraine; winners were determined in 7 nominations. The Vitebsk Technological University has been participating in this competition since 1998. "This time, we focused on using natural materials (linen, unbleached and corrugated cardboard) and minimalist design concepts in the competition entries, which is the main trend in this field," noted Natalia Tarabuko. Olga Ovchinnikova's "gold" work - packaging for elite coffee "Black Harmony" - was recognized by the jury as the most accurate representation of quality coffee. Elena Sinelnik's series of packaging for "Atea" tea, in which the author proposed an interesting constructive solution for tea bags - they are pulled out of the box through a slot and torn off as needed - was awarded a gold diploma. Natalia Shishkina's work "Packaging for sewing accessories 'Button'" was also recognized as the best - a very subtle, elegant project, the solution proposed by the Vitebsk resident actually turned the packaging into a decoration. Participation in such competitions gives students the opportunity to test their strengths and potential at the highest level, receive due recognition from professionals, and stay informed about trends that dominate the professional environment, noted Natalia Tarabuko. The competition was organized by the non-profit partnership "Center for Packaging, Labeling, Design," the Polytechnic Museum (Moscow), and the magazine "Tara i Upakovka" with the support of the Subcommittee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Packaging Industry, the Russian National Packaging Confederation, the Union of Designers of Russia, and the European Institute of Packaging.-0-
