The official natural symbol of the district will be determined in Chashniki region

Chashniki District has joined the "election" campaign, in which five candidates are vying for the status of the official natural symbol of the district. In agreement with the Public Association "Aхова птушак Бацькаўшчыны" (Birds of the Fatherland Protection), they are the lake gull, great white egret, common tit, common reed bunting, and song thrush.

Currently, presentations of the candidate birds are being held in the district. They are being discussed at public information days and other events, in media publications, and special leaflets to ensure that as many residents as possible become acquainted with the contenders. Voting has begun on the district executive committee's website – in the first two days alone, over 70 people participated. The common reed bunting and the great white egret are currently leading the "election race." Voting will continue until approximately the New Year. Afterwards, based on the results, an "inauguration" will take place – the approval of the bird as the official symbol of Chashniki District at a session of the District Council of Deputies.

As reported by Nadezhda Bondar, Deputy Head of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the District Executive Committee, the natural symbol of the district can be used for the development of ecotourism. Its image will be placed on informational materials, souvenirs, etc. In addition, these unusual elections contribute to the environmental education of the population and draw attention to the biodiversity of their native region.
