US restrictive measures against Polotsk-Steklovolokno will have a negative impact on American consumers
February 2, Minsk /BELTA/. The US State Department's revocation of the current license authorizing US citizens to conduct trade with Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC will have a minor impact on the sales structure, the enterprise's marketing department head, Alexander Krasko, told a BELTA correspondent.
"The US share in sales volume is about 5%. We are more concerned about our consumers in the US, with whom cooperation has existed for the past 15 years. For some of them, we are the sole suppliers of products," Alexander Krasko noted.
In 2010, Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC shipped products to 41 countries, including 34 foreign countries. The main sales markets are traditionally Russia, Germany, Poland, China, Ukraine, and Romania.
The enterprise boasts over 250 types of in-demand products. These include glass fabrics and glass meshes for construction purposes, electrical insulating glass fabrics, glass fabrics for thermal insulation materials, chopped fiber, glass yarns, glass fabrics and rovings for structural purposes, high-temperature silica products, and fiberglass products.
"A broad country strategy, diversification of markets and commodity flows help the joint-stock company maintain a stable financial position. The enterprise has a wide range of products, is integrated into the global economy, and actively works on implementing new technologies, developing markets, and promising product ranges," Alexander Krasko summarized.
At Lakokraska OJSC, the information published on the Internet about the restrictive measures imposed by the US against this enterprise was met with surprise. "Yes, indeed, our enterprise is export-oriented - 58% of products are supplied to the foreign market. The geography of supplies is quite extensive, but Lakokraska does not cooperate with the US. Therefore, these restrictive measures will not have a negative impact on the enterprise's operations," Lyudmila Birich, Deputy Director for Personnel, Ideological and Social Work of OJSC, told a BELTA correspondent.
The Polotsk Glass Fiber Plant was founded in 1957. In 2003, the production association was transformed into an OJSC. Polotsk-Steklovolokno is an integrated enterprise that combines technological processes of raw material processing, glass melting, glass fiber production and its textile processing, finishing of glass fabrics, and manufacturing of fiberglass. It specializes in the production of glass fiber and products made from it – electrical insulating and structural glass fabrics, construction and thermal insulation materials, silica products, and its structural division "Steklokompozit" specializes in the production of fiberglass products.
Lakokraska OJSC was incorporated in 1994. For over 40 years, it has firmly held the status of a leading Belarusian enterprise in the production of paint and varnish products for various sectors of the national economy and for export. On an area of 56 hectares, there are two production facilities and nine workshops, where over 2,000 types of products are manufactured.
