Around 100 representatives of federal and regional media from Russia spent three information-rich days in the Vitebsk region, getting acquainted with the production potential, cultural heritage, and attractions of the northern region of Belarus. The press tour of Russian journalists was organized with the support of the regional executive committee, the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus, and the Standing Committee of the Union State.

The program of this unique information tour of the region began in Vitebsk with an overview of historical attractions, which are carefully preserved and lovingly restored here. Journalists visited the Holy Assumption Cathedral, the Cultural and Historical Complex "Golden Ring of Vitebsk "Dvina", the Marc Chagall House-Museum, and had the opportunity to wander through the pedestrian zone of the old town.

Then, the Russians' journey smoothly transitioned to exploring the economic potential of the region, which is implementing a strategy to become a leading territory based on industry and scientific potential. An exhibition of almost fifty producers from the Dvina region was held at the Vitebsk Concert Hall.

The logical path of the region's economic development is a focus on the growth of industrial production and innovation. This is what the organizers tried to convey to the guests when forming the exposition, which was based on innovation-active enterprises, manufacturers of high-tech products, as well as companies successfully competing in the market, including in Russia, with mass-market products from food to light industry goods. The latter was confirmed by the first emotional reaction of Russians to the stands of food industry enterprises: Vitebsk food brands are recognizable, popular both in the central regions and in the Russian hinterland. The editor-in-chief of the newspaper

"Kurskaya Pravda" Olga Bortsova noted that Belarusian goods at fairs in her hometown are bought up instantly. Her colleague from the Chelyabinsk newspaper "Kolos" Yulia Nesterenko explained this popularity simply: "When they say "Belarusian goods" – it means quality is guaranteed". This fully applies to industrial goods as well. For example, Belarusian footwear under the brand "Belwest" is well-known in Russia, partly due to an extensive chain of branded stores, exceeding 300 outlets.

At the exhibition, visitors could learn about a smart TV

"Vityaz 32 LCD 861 – 7DC Smart" from a well-known Vitebsk manufacturer, which will soon appear on store shelves. The population of many Russian regions uses clean water thanks to the Vitebsk company "Polimerkonstruktsiya", which is approaching the mark of 100 projects implemented in the neighboring country. The private enterprise "BelGigaSynt", created with the participation of Russian capital, is successfully mastering the production of LED lighting and special-purpose electronic products. The high-tech potential of the region was convincingly presented by OJSC "Design Bureau "Display", scientific and production firm "Dipol", OJSC "Vitebskiye Kovry", which, thanks to continuous improvement and innovation, successfully competes with Turkish and European companies, preparing for the third year in a row to break its production output record, and many other exhibition participants.

Having formed a general idea of the capabilities of the Vitebsk region, the press tour organizers gave guests the opportunity to delve into the details of its industrial development. At OJSC

«Vitebskdrev» journalists learned about a recently implemented project to create a plant for the production of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and HDF (high-density fiberboard) with a cost of about 75 million euros. Its products are already exported to traditional markets for the company, including to Russian partners. The Belarusian experience in organizing effective agricultural production was demonstrated using the example of agricultural enterprise «MazolovoGaz» , a branch of UP «Vitebskoblgaz». Here, the implementation of a project to create a dairy farm with the introduction of a robotic feeding system is being completed. Taking advantage of the opportunity, right here on the farm, journalists experienced the hospitality of the Vitebsk region: leading producers of the region, as well as the cultural and tourist potential of the area, were presented at an improvised exhibition.

Yesterday, the press tour events took place in the Polotsk region, which

«Vitebskiye Vesti» will cover in upcoming issues.
