About 12% of the working-age population of the Vitebsk region is employed in the private sector of the economy
October 29, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA/. Over 70,000 people, or about 12% of the working-age population, are employed in the non-state sector of the economy of the Vitebsk region, making an increasingly significant contribution to the region's development. This was announced by Oleg Matskevich, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, today at the conference "Effective Technologies for Successful Business," which is being held as part of the II International Economic Forum "Your Business" in Vitebsk, according to a BELTA correspondent.
The region has about 6,000 commercial enterprises and almost 30,000 individual entrepreneurs. In recent years, the share of industrial enterprises, as well as entities engaged in trade and provision of transport services, has increased in the industry structure of business. At the same time, private industrial enterprises provide employment for about 45% of the total number of employees in small businesses. Annually, financial resources are allocated from the regional budget to support the development of entrepreneurship, and their volume has increased 5 times compared to 2000. "We believe that even these funds are insufficient, and when preparing the draft budget of the region for 2010, we are making proposals to increase such funding," said Oleg Matskevich.
Today, the key directions for the region's economic growth are innovation, increasing product exports, reducing energy and material intensity, improving quality, and developing cooperative relations between large and small enterprises. "We expect that entrepreneurial structures will take an active part in solving these problems," noted Oleg Matskevich.
The conference is the main event of the II International Economic Forum "Your Business," which presents modern methods of organizing and conducting business, as well as promising solutions in management and marketing as components of a competitive enterprise. This year, representatives of the business circles of Russia and Slovakia, as well as about a hundred representatives of domestic business, showed interest in the project. The main goal of the forum is to increase the receptiveness of the heads of regional business structures to new ideas in the field of effective management, and to promote the need for implementing modern business tools. The business program of the forum includes an exhibition with the participation of over 20 enterprises and organizations that present products and solutions for a wide range of business services. Also, during the forum, business meetings of business circles, seminars and master classes on the implementation of modern tools for successful business, and presentations of investment projects are organized.
The forum is organized by the Department for the Development of Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the communal consulting unitary enterprise "Vitebsk Regional Marketing Center," the Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers, and the Association of Employers and Entrepreneurs. -0-
