About 1.3 thousand conscripts from the Vitebsk region will join the ranks of the Belarusian army by the end of May
The main tasks of the conscription are to fulfill the constitutional duty and train in military occupational specialties.
Starting from May 15, groups of young men are arriving at the regional military commissariat from the districts and cities of Vitebsk region, who are then sent to military units. Mostly, our countrymen will learn the basics of army service in their homeland; an exception will be made for soldiers of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and border troops, who will be sent to various locations across Belarus.
Among the first to welcome new recruits this spring were the Minsk Military Commandant's Office, the 103rd Airborne Brigade, and the 5th Special Forces Brigade. Before leaving for their units, the young men listened to parting words from representatives of the commissariat, public organizations, and the church.
— Honestly and diligently fulfill your military duty, because for a man there is no more sacred obligation than to serve his Fatherland and defend it, — said Sergey Denisov, Chairman of the regional council of the Belarusian Union of Officers. — I hope that you will become worthy successors to the glorious traditions laid down by previous generations of defenders of the Motherland.
— I went from a private soldier to an officer. I had to participate in combat operations, — said Valerian Matskevich, Chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Union of War Veterans in Afghanistan. — Stoically endure the hardships of army life, learning from the experience of your older comrades. This will be a school that will make you real men.
Before being sent to military units, the conscripts were blessed by a clergyman.
