About 140 official public recreation areas on water bodies in the Vitebsk region are ready for the swimming season
Around 140 public recreation areas on water bodies in the Vitebsk region have been designated for the current swimming season, and all of them are ready to receive visitors. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Vyacheslav Kurukin, chief specialist of the department for state control over the protection and use of atmospheric air and water resources of the regional committee for natural resources and environmental protection.
This refers to sites officially approved by decisions of city and district executive committees, the condition of which must be monitored by assigned organizations, and safety must be ensured by law enforcement officers and representatives of the OSOVOD (State Society for the Rescue of People on Water). At the same time, there are also general recreation areas and tourist campsites (for example, on the lakes of the Braslav district), which are also equipped to varying degrees. In total, according to the department of sports and tourism of the regional executive committee, there are about 400 recreation zones on the region's water bodies. Another 10 are planned to be equipped this year as part of the implementation of the "Five Hundred" subprogram of the regional program for innovative and investment development of the region for 2011-2015.
"The infrastructure of official recreation areas has everything necessary. 124 parking lots have been equipped for almost 2,000 cars, slightly more than 150 public toilets have been installed, 190 information signs have been put up, and almost 400 containers and bins for waste collection have been provided. According to the regional OSOVOD, 10 rescue stations, a mobile search group, and 25 rescue posts will be operational throughout the season. Currently, they are engaged in clearing the bottom in the water areas of the region's beaches. And local environmental protection inspectorates are monitoring the condition of the recreation areas," added Vyacheslav Kurukin.
By the way, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also assist in clearing the bottom. As reported by the Vitebsk District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, divers from the emergency rescue squad help free of charge year after year: they train and, at the same time, tidy up the lakes by removing often dangerous debris accumulated at the bottom.
In the Vitebsk district, there are 4 officially approved bathing areas by the decision of the district executive committee: on Lakes Tulovskoye, Sosno, Gorodno, and Dobrino. There used to be 8, but due to stricter safety requirements, half of this list had to be excluded. Nevertheless, there are still quite decent equipped recreation areas on 12 more water bodies, which are sponsored by local enterprises and organizations, including 7 within the city limits. This is quite enough for the flow of vacationers from Vitebsk.
