About 15% of those employed in the education system of the Vitebsk region are pensioners
About 15% of those employed in the education system of the Vitebsk region are pensioners, the first deputy head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Leonid Stepanov, informed journalists today, responding to a question from a BELTA correspondent.
"Every year, more than 500 young specialists come to the region's educational institutions, and 600-700 people leave. About 15% of those employed in our system are pensioners. We provide jobs for practically everyone who applies to us. There are specific problems in some settlements and for certain specialties. To maintain balance in these matters, interaction between district education departments and universities for targeted enrollment of students in the pedagogical specialties needed by specific districts is very important," said Leonid Stepanov. He emphasized that work on optimizing the education system will continue this year. "We will closely study the work of small general secondary and vocational-technical education institutions, and see how much they are in demand in a particular district," noted Leonid Stepanov, adding that in recent years, there has been a trend in the region towards an increase in the number of children in preschool institutions and primary schools. This fact will also be taken into account when making decisions.
