About 18,000 residents of the Vitebsk region have been revaccinated against coronavirus

More than half of those revaccinated so far are medical workers, who have the highest risk of infection. Also, representatives of social services and the service sector living in 24-hour care facilities, people aged 61+, as well as patients with a number of chronic diseases are receiving a booster shot against COVID-19 in the region today.
An additional dose is administered six months after the completion of the primary course. For these purposes, Sputnik Light is used, which has proven compatible with other drugs used in the country for primary vaccination.
According to the latest data, 30% of the Vitebsk region's population have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus, and almost 44% have received the first dose of a two-component vaccine.
Vladimir Sinkevich also drew attention to the increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections, including influenza, observed in the region. About 60% of those with ARIs are children. In this regard, doctors remind about the importance of influenza vaccination, which is carried out in parallel with the immunization of the population against COVID-19. By the way, children can be vaccinated against influenza from the age of six months. To date, almost 35% of the residents of the northern region have taken advantage of the opportunity to gain artificial immunity against this virus. This campaign will last until the end of December and involves immunization coverage of at least 40% of the population.
Vaccination is the most reliable way to protect against severe illness and complications of viral infections. And given the simultaneous circulation of influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2, it is worth doubly taking care of your health and the safety of your loved ones.
