About 20 calls were received on the 'hotline' of the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Chief Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Alexander Poznyak
Around 20 calls were received during the "direct line" event, which lasted for 2 hours, all concerning pressing issues. People turn to the President's aide when they seem to have exhausted all other options to resolve their problems. The majority of these issues relate to unpaid salaries and unsatisfactory performance of housing and communal services.
For instance, payments have been withheld since February at the Obol Ceramic Plant, and the bankrupt OJSC "KIM" has not settled its accounts with former employees for 5 months. Dairymaids from OJSC "Cheresy" in the Miory district and the agricultural enterprise "Rubezhnitsa" in the Liozno district also contacted Alexander Poznyak regarding the same issue. Management cites prevailing circumstances and lack of funds, requesting patience (the Obol plant hopes for a profitable contract with Russia, while "KIM" anticipates selling its assets). However, explanations do not substitute the money that people have honestly earned. Alexander Grigoryevich listened attentively to each caller and issued instructions to settle the debts within this month.
Following the appeal of residents of the regional center during the "direct line" event, who complained about the performance of housing and communal services, a commission will visit the specified addresses to determine the necessary actions on-site. These actions will be strictly within the established regulations. There will be no exceptions for those who expect to gain more after speaking with the President's aide.
Two calls concerning the same problem were received from the village of Lyubovo in the Vitebsk district. Residents were allocated plots for individual house construction, and all utilities were supposed to be installed, but the work was not completed. Specifically, water supply was not provided.
– We have been living in our house for 5 years, and we have to bring water in bottles from Vitebsk or collect it somewhere along the way. There isn't even a public water tap in the village. They started the work, drilled wells, laid pipes, and then stopped. They say we shouldn't expect anything this year or next. But how can we live without water? – asks one of the residents.
Alexander Poznyak promised to investigate and assist the village residents. He also reassured the owner of a private house in Vitebsk, who has been unable to connect to the sewage system for over a month. The issue is expected to be resolved in the near future.
A lonely 86-year-old woman explained that her social worker had stopped serving her. Another pensioner, whose house burned down, asks for help to get on the preferential queue for an apartment. All these appeals require additional study, which will be done on the instructions of Alexander Poznyak. The same applies to the complaint of a Vitebsk resident against the construction company "Delta". As the woman said, she received a serious injury due to the fault of builders who did not ensure the safety of work carried out in the courtyard of a residential building. The Vitebsk resident can now hardly walk, demands material compensation, and has appealed to the court for the protection of her rights. But she believes that it would be better for both parties to resolve everything amicably and asks the President's aide to assist in this.
A pensioner from Vitebsk made practical suggestions during the "direct line" event. Boris Ivanovich is outraged that young people occupy seats in public transport intended for the elderly, disabled, and passengers with children.
– It is necessary to remind via the public address system on buses and trolleybuses who can enter through the front door first and occupy the designated seats. It would be good if conductors also monitored this, – the pensioner believes. The President's aide agreed with him and instructed transport workers to take note of the Vitebsk resident's suggestions.
On behalf of the vendors near the Polotsk market, two residents of the regional center immediately appealed to Alexander Poznyak. They ask for a corner to be allocated for a so-called flea market where used items can be sold. According to the women, people want to trade legally and pay the required money for places, but they are told that there are no free spots at the market. Irina Levkovich, head of the trade and services department of the regional executive committee, who participated in the "direct line" event, promised to look into this issue.
The expediency of closing the Dvoretskaya school in the Chashniksky district, which local residents disagree with, will also be reviewed again. The President's aide promised them that the local authorities would make an optimal decision.
