October 28, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The Vitebsk State University named after P. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Ivan Mandrik, head of the student scientific society of VSU, professor of the Department of History of Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences. The results of the scientific activities of the university's students will be summarized during the two-day scientific and practical conference of students, postgraduates and young scientists "IV Masherov Readings", which opened today at the Vitebsk university. Out of more than 600 reports presented at the forum, about half were prepared by students and postgraduates of the state university. The best works selected by the conference organizing committee will be honored to represent VSU at the republican competition. In 2009, the university submitted more than 150 scientific works, with over a hundred authors of the developments becoming laureates and prize-winners of the republican competition, and VSU entered the top ten strongest higher education institutions in the country. The traditional "Masherov Readings" are held with international participation for the first time this year. Representatives of more than 50 universities and research institutions from all regions of Belarus, as well as Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, showed interest in the scientific forum. The main objectives of the conference are to popularize scientific activities, to help young people realize their potential in the scientific field, and to support them on their way to success in research work. In addition, holding a conference with international status will contribute to the development of cooperation between young scientists from different countries. The format of the event will allow young researchers to exchange experience, ideas and developments, discuss problematic issues and, possibly, identify promising areas of cooperation on various topics of scientific research. Within the framework of the scientific forum, 10 sections will work on various topics of scientific interests and priority areas of scientific research. The organizers hope that the works submitted to the conference will form the basis for promising innovative projects that will find practical application. The Vitebsk State University has a student scientific society, and scientific clubs are created at each department. Starting from the first year, the educational process is organized in such a way that the student gradually gets involved in scientific research and acquires research skills. To coordinate the activities of student scientific clubs, the Council of the Student Scientific Society was established at the university in 2009, which is designed to enhance the popularization of scientific activities among university students. The organizers of the scientific and practical conference "IV Masherov Readings" are the Ministry of Education of Belarus and the educational institution "Vitebsk State University named after P. M.
