About 2.4 thousand people are involved in flax harvesting in the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Department told a BELTA correspondent. Among them, about 250 are flax mill workers, 1.7 thousand people are involved from district centers, and 350 from cities. In the coming days, students from various educational institutions in the region will come to help them. The flax field in the region occupies 17.9 thousand hectares. As of September 2, flax has been harvested from an area of over 3 thousand hectares, or 17% of the plan. Almost 6 thousand tons of flax straw have been prepared with an average grade of 1.01. The highest quality flax straw is noted in the Shumilino (1.20), Liozno (1.18), and Dubrovno (1.10) districts. It is planned to complete the flax straw harvesting in the Vitebsk region by September 15. -0-
