About 25 safety violations are detected during a single inspection at agricultural enterprises in the Vitebsk region

June 25, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Labor protection inspectors record an average of about 25 violations during one inspection of an agro-industrial complex enterprise in the Vitebsk region. This was announced today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Novatsky, BELTA correspondent reports. At agricultural enterprises of communal ownership, the state of labor protection remains low. In many respects, this is due to organizational reasons, believes Vladimir Novatsky. The staff of enterprises are not always staffed with labor protection specialists. Equipment is allowed to operate without technical inspection, and persons who either do not have tractor driver's licenses or have been deprived of them by traffic police officers are allowed to operate tractors. In the region's enterprises, 5 workers died and 26 received serious injuries in the first four months of the current year. An analysis of the causes of injuries during this period showed that a quarter of the accidents occur due to violations of labor and production discipline. Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets considers the work of managers to ensure people's safety to be insufficient. "The manager bears personal responsibility for the state of safety in institutions and enterprises," he stressed. In 2008, non-compliance with safety regulations led to the termination of contracts with 1028 employees, including three managers. -0-
