About 30,000 tourists will visit Belarus during the 2019 European Games

Belarus expects about 30,000 foreign tourists during the II European Games, said Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Mikhail Portnoy in the press center of BELTA.

"We took the I European Games as a basis for calculations – there were about 28,000 tourists then. We are taking on increased commitments: we plan to receive at least 30,000 tourists," said Mikhail Portnoy. A republican organizing committee, headed by the Prime Minister, has been established for the high-quality conduct of the II European Games. A subcommittee on organizing work with foreign tourists has been created within its structure. The official tour operator and agent of the Games have been selected on a competitive basis. The National Tourism Agency has accredited 886 tour guides and 200 interpreter guides. "Tours for every taste and for every target audience have been created, the infrastructure is being prepared so that people who come here receive a high-quality tourist product," noted the Deputy Minister. "In Europe, when a major event is held, hotel prices usually increase two to three times. We decided to limit this price growth. During the European Games, we will also activate domestic tourism. We are confident that the event will be held at the highest level," emphasized Mikhail Portnoy. The II European Games will be held in Minsk from June 21 to 30. More than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete for 199 sets of medals in 15 sports. Competitions in eight sports will be qualifying for the XXXII Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo.
