About 300 thousand sq.m of housing is planned to be commissioned in Vitebsk in 2010

This point of view was expressed today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Viktor Nikolaikin at a festive reception dedicated to Women's Day, a BELTA correspondent reports. Currently, about 30,000 residents of the regional center are on the waiting list for housing. Those in need who were registered for housing improvement in 2007 are invited to form housing cooperatives. According to the chairman of the city executive committee, they can plan their housewarming party as early as the current year. The city's socio-economic development plan for 2010 envisages the commissioning of 300,000 sq.m. of housing, while in 2009, 193,000 sq.m. were commissioned. To fulfill these ambitious plans, technical re-equipment of construction enterprises is being carried out, in particular, the modernization of the large-panel housing construction plant is being completed, and the number of construction organizations is increasing. Viktor Nikolaikin told the participants of the festive reception that this year the city has set serious tasks for increasing industrial production volumes, increasing the output of consumer goods, boosting exports, and developing urban infrastructure. The volume of industrial production should be 124%, and the five-year target as a whole needs to be completed by November 1, 2010. The fulfillment of these tasks will allow for the full implementation of social projects and the improvement of the material base of healthcare and educational institutions. -0-
