About 490,000 residents of the Vitebsk region are expected to take part in the republican subbotnik (voluntary work day) on April 16, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee told a BELTA correspondent. In Vitebsk, the main sites for the subbotnik include Victory Park, the reconstruction of the Vitebsk Concert Hall, where, as in the Summer Amphitheater, events of the Slavianski Bazaar Arts Festival are held, and the construction of residential buildings and a kindergarten in the new Bilevo microdistrict. Near this microdistrict, the Vitebsk Zoo is being built, and here subbotnik participants will prepare the site for construction. City residents will help the Voronovo boarding house for the elderly and disabled to tidy up the adjacent territory. Students of educational institutions in Orsha will be engaged in cleaning up Heroes' Park and military burial sites, and will provide assistance to lonely and elderly people at home. Workers of the Glubokskoye forestry will plant fir and pine trees on an area of 14 hectares on the day of the subbotnik.
