About 5,000 artists took part in the amateur art exhibition of the Vitebsk region

Около 5 тысяч артистов приняли участие в смотре художественной самодеятельности Витебщины

The nearly half-year creative competition of the region's collectives culminated in a large-scale gala concert of the amateur art review, which took place last Friday at the Summer Amphitheatre.

This concert held a special place among the various events of Vitebsk region: it featured over 1.3 thousand artists from all regions of the area. These were representatives of work collectives of enterprises and organizations, cultural and educational institutions, and individual performers of different ages, who successfully passed the selection, winning the jury's recognition. In total, about 5 thousand people tried their hand at the amateur art review, but only the best of the best were honored to perform on the stage of the Summer Amphitheatre.

– Today, Vitebsk region has over 3 thousand club formations, amateur and folk groups, 11 of which have the title of Honored, 541 have the title of People's and Exemplary, so the regional executive committee initiated their review, – noted in his speech thehead of the region.

Nikolai Sherstnev. – At the end of the year, a republican forum of creative intelligentsia and cultural workers of Belarus will be held, where the laureates of the "City of Culture in the Year of Culture" and "Person of the Year in Culture" contests will be presented. I am sure that many of today's participants will be honored with a stage in the capital, and this performance will be a general rehearsal for them.

Nikolai Nikolaevich emphasized that the cultural life of the Vitebsk region is rich in diverse creative events. For 25 years, the International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" has been the hallmark of the region and Belarus, which has grown from a modest holiday by today's standards into a large-scale socio-cultural event. Last year, almost all continents of the planet, 42 countries of the world, were represented at the forum.

For the Vitebsk region, the Year of Culture is particularly rich in significant dates. For example, the Belarusian Theater "Lyalka" celebrated its 30th anniversary, the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theater celebrated its 90th anniversary, the Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev celebrated its 50th anniversary, the College of Culture and Arts celebrated its 45th anniversary, and the Marc Chagall Museum celebrated its 25th anniversary. On May 9, the solemn opening of the restored memorial complex "Proryv" (Breakthrough) in the Ushachi district took place. The authorities, the deputy corps, the public, and hundreds of thousands of residents of the Dvina region were involved in its reconstruction. The 57th meeting of front-line soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters of Belarus, Russia, and Latvia is planned to be held in a new format with the involvement of a large number of participants, which

will take place on July 2 at the Mound of Friendship in the Verkhnedvinsk district. In addition, preparations are underway for the "Dazhynki-2016" festival-fair for rural workers in Senno.

The diverse program of the gala concert lasted more than two hours, and despite the drizzling rain, a warm atmosphere prevailed in the auditorium. Solo performances, acrobatic, choreographic, and theatrical numbers were accompanied by stormy applause. And how could it be otherwise, since the brightest talents of the region were on stage, united by a love for creativity and national culture, and their skill can be considered nothing less than professional.
