About 50 ice rinks and skating rinks are preparing to welcome winter recreation enthusiasts in Vitebsk
In the regional center, the ice rink on Victory Square has already been flooded. On January 19, sports events and contests will be held here as part of the International Snow Day celebration.
Active work is underway to prepare the ice rink on the site near the Summer Amphitheater. If sub-zero temperatures persist in the region, the ice rink will be able to welcome active recreation enthusiasts on weekends. In the coming days, ice boxes will be flooded in schoolyards and courtyards.
As for cross-country skiing, it is not yet possible due to a lack of snow. About a dozen trails (the main ones being located in the area of the Olympic Reserve School, the Vitebsk River floodplain recreation area, Lokomotiv Stadium, the Palace of Sports on Stroiteley Avenue, and the Park of Culture and Recreation named after the Soviet Army) will start operating as soon as the snow cover depth reaches at least 10-15 cm.
Similar snow conditions are also necessary for the tubing hills, set up near the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex, to start operating.
