About 50 new production facilities will be created in the Vitebsk region in the near future, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets told reporters today while visiting the new workshop for the production of medium and high voltage power cables at the Energokomplekt Production Association, according to a BELTA correspondent. A significant part of the new production facilities will be created in small towns. For example, in Verkhnedvinsk, it is planned to launch the production of soil-cultivating agricultural machinery, and in other district centers, taking into account the local raw material base, production facilities for woodworking and the manufacture of building materials. In the Vitebsk free economic zone, an enterprise with Polish capital for the production of building materials will start operating in the near future. The installation of a line for the production of long-pile carpets at Vitebskiye Kovry OJSC is being completed. As Alexander Kosinets emphasized, the main goal of creating new production facilities is the production of in-demand, competitive, and innovative products. "The region's enterprises need to stop being manufacturers of components for other producers; they need to start producing the final product, thereby obtaining added value," he said. At the same time, the governor drew the attention of manufacturers to the need to increase exports, despite the unstable situation in world markets. Issues of increasing mutual trade turnover are actively being worked out with representatives of the administrations and business circles of Russian regions - Smolensk, Pskov, and Nizhny Novgorod regions. -0-
