About 50 outdoor ice rinks will be flooded in Vitebsk
About 50 outdoor ice rinks will be flooded this winter in Vitebsk, the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
Ice rinks will appear in the city with the establishment of consistently frosty weather. The flooding of skating rinks may begin as early as the end of next week. In total, 39 hockey boxes and 10 ice rinks will operate in Vitebsk this winter, including two rinks on Victory Square, one near the Summer Amphitheater, and one in the central sports complex "Dynamo". For fans of active winter recreation, 12 winter sports equipment rental points will open, and seven ski trails will be equipped, including those in the park named after the Soviet Army and in the recreation area in the flood plain of the Vitebsk River.
Vitebsk residents will definitely not be bored this winter: the sports events calendar for the coming months includes an extensive plan of sports events. Thus, on weekends, mass competitions will be held alternately in each district of the regional center. Fun starts await citizens in the park named after the Soviet Army. On January 20, the Snow Day celebration will take place with snowball fights, contests, and sleigh rides. Fans of the ice sculpture contest are advised to prepare their cutters and chisels by February.
