About 6,000 young specialists are starting their careers in the Vitebsk region
Motivated, educated, active youth is, in essence, a strategic resource for the development of any country, as our President has repeatedly emphasized. Therefore, youth policy in Belarus provides maximum opportunities for the education and career growth of talented young men and women. Special attention is paid to those who decide to work in small towns and remote regions. Gorodok district is hosting sixty young specialists this year. Caring mentorship, financial support, rental housing, other preferences – all for them. After all, the future of the hinterland today depends on young, proactive personnel – like the heroes of our report.

— Yes, there were good options to stay and work in Vitebsk, — Valeriya Valeryevna does not hide, — but, firstly, I wanted to be closer to my parents, and secondly, I am sure: if you want to become a universal specialist, you need to start in the hinterland.
Valeriya Sitnikova has completed her internship at a large clinic in the regional center, and also passed a difficult exam for maturity and dedication to her profession: for two years, without interrupting her studies, she was at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus, working as a ward nurse in one of the departments of the regional hospital. These skills, she says, are in demand every day:
“When working in remote villages, you have to be a psychologist too,” the young doctor is sure. “Often, people are tormented not so much by illnesses as by loneliness.”
Every day, Valeria travels 20 kilometers back and forth from Gorodok. She claims it’s not difficult. She is happy with her salary. And her housing issue has long been resolved by her parents – the girl owns an apartment in the district center. Patients are reassured by such stability: it means the young doctor is here to stay.
“I never even faced the question of choosing a profession. It was somehow by default since childhood, or perhaps even predetermined from birth,” Alexandra jokes, taking advantage of the moment while the children in her group are managing lunch.
Let’s specify the family chronicle. Sasha’s great-grandmothers on both sides were teachers. One worked in a Vitebsk kindergarten before the war, the second – in the Rossony school. Together, by the way, with Pyotr Masherov, about whom she later told a lot. Her paternal grandparents worked at the Surmin special school: Anna Pavlovna as a teacher, Alexey Fyodorovich as the director. Her mother, Valentina Anatolyevna, currently works at the Yezeryshchensky kindergarten. Her father, Igor Alekseevich, is a history teacher at the local school.
Alexandra graduated from VSU named after Masherov and came to work at kindergarten No. 2 in Gorodok. She is very happy with her first place of work:

Petr Korobach, Chairman of the Horadok District Executive Committee:
— We fully support young specialists, both financially and in terms of everyday life. In every new building, we allocate rental apartments to university graduates who decide to work in the Horadok region. Special attention is paid to replenishing the agro-industrial complex and the medical sector. These areas are strategic for the socio-economic development of the district. It is gratifying that natives of this region are increasingly returning to their homeland. For example, out of ten young teachers who arrived this year, seven are locals. This means there is hope that they will stay here.
A Doctor Starts in the Hinterland
Valeriya Sitnikova is a native of Gorodok. Since August 1, this sweet, fragile girl has been a general practitioner and head of the outpatient clinic in the agro-town of Bychiha.

— Real practice gave me a lot, especially confidence in my own abilities. It's easier to deal with complex cases, you don't feel like a novice. The outpatient clinic has everything you need. There are equipped children's and gynecological rooms, a day hospital, and a separate room for receiving patients with fever. The official "Niva" will also be repaired soon.In the first month, Valeriya has already visited all the affiliated villages. The service area includes fifteen settlements and over 1.3 thousand people. She has already visited one 97-year-old grandmother three times.. Reasons for visits? To consult, prescribe medication, and… talk.

A Teacher by Birth
Alexandra Bogdanova is a fourth-generation teacher. The total pedagogical experience of her ancestors is over 200 years.“I never even faced the question of choosing a profession. It was somehow by default since childhood, or perhaps even predetermined from birth,” Alexandra jokes, taking advantage of the moment while the children in her group are managing lunch.

“It’s a unique institution. So many interesting projects are implemented here. With the participation of specialists, including from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the traffic police, and other services, children are taught the basics of safety, a healthy lifestyle, and caring for nature in a playful way. I gladly immersed myself in this. Now, for example, we are preparing for the launch of a patriotic project.”Curious little ones, overhearing the conversation, immediately start reciting poems dedicated to Belarus in a race. And with such enthusiasm, such ardor, so emotionally! And others rush to an unusual interactive map to show how from the departmentобласти складывается общая картинка их родной страны…
