About 60 children from the Vitebsk region will be quarantined after returning from foreign tours
August 20, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. About 60 children from the Vitebsk region will be quarantined upon their return from foreign health tours to prevent the spread of possible cases of influenza A/H1N1 infection, Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department Stepan Zhukov told a BELTA correspondent.
Children from the Vitebsk region are vacationing in Germany and Italy. Despite the fact that they will all return home only in early September, their lists are already available at the polyclinics at their place of residence. In accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, they will stay at home for seven days, parents will have to limit their contact with peers, and medics, in turn, will monitor their health at home.
Similar anti-epidemic measures will be carried out in adult polyclinics, which monitor foreign students studying in the region's universities.
As reported by Oleg Bonchak, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, all necessary anti-epidemiological measures are being carried out in the region in this case. Currently, 3 children who have returned from abroad are under medical supervision. As the specialist emphasized, no symptoms of illness have been detected in the children, and monitoring their health is a preventive measure.
Sanitary control posts are operating around the clock at the major railway stations of Vitebsk and Orsha, monitoring the health of passengers with symptoms of viral diseases. According to Oleg Bonchak, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee intends to increase funding for the purchase of seasonal flu vaccines to vaccinate every fifth resident of the region.
The chief sanitary doctor of the region reminded that it is necessary to pay more attention to one's own health and consult a doctor at the slightest signs of malaise. Citizens traveling abroad should avoid large crowds, use gauze masks if necessary, and observe basic hygiene rules. -0-
