March 25, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. About 80 enterprises and organizations in Vitebsk have been fined Br7 million since the beginning of March for disorder on the ground, the head of the Vitebsk City Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Valery Fando, told a BELTA correspondent. The main violations identified by state inspectors are shrub vegetation and violation of the law on waste management. Among the most common places where garbage accumulates are the outskirts of the city, public transport termini, and garage and production cooperatives. These sites have acquired a particularly unsightly appearance with the active melting of snow, when the rubbish accumulated over the winter is exposed. "The city's utility services are making significant efforts, but they are not coping. Heads of enterprises and organizations, various facilities must also pay the closest attention to bringing order to the land," emphasized Valery Fando. As reported by the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, the first city clean-up day of the year, which will take place on March 27, will help Vitebsk to spruce up and renew itself. According to preliminary data, about 7,000 people, over 200 units of equipment, and most enterprises and organizations of various forms of ownership will take part in the event called "For a Clean City". The main focus of the work will be on the sanitary cleaning of streets from snow remnants and garbage.
