About 850 children are participating in the regional New Year's celebration in Vitebsk
December 29, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. About 850 children gathered at the regional New Year's celebration in Vitebsk this year, a BELTA correspondent reports.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, addressed his best wishes to the young talents, athletes, and children from large and low-income families gathered at the Christmas tree. He noted that the state has done everything necessary to implement the "Children of Belarus" program. Thus, this year, Br50 billion has been allocated in the Vitebsk region for the improvement, modernization, and strengthening of the material and technical base of gymnasiums, schools, and boarding schools, as well as for the construction of kindergartens. All this is done to maximize the potential of children. "In turn, you respond to this with your achievements," the governor emphasized, addressing the children. Alexander Kosinets proudly noted that the Vitebsk region leads among the regions of the republic in the number of winners of republican Olympiads. In 2009, 101 schoolchildren brought diplomas of the first, second, and third degrees to the region's award collection, and three became winners of international Olympiads.
Achievements in sports and creativity evoke no less pride, said Alexander Kosinets. Today alone, 20 laureates of international creative competitions, 37 diploma winners, and more than 100 children who won regional festivals gathered in the festive hall. "We have very gifted, talented children. Thanks to them, our region will flourish and develop successfully," the governor is confident.
From early morning, the participants of the regional New Year's tree found themselves at the center of festive fun, jokes, and merriment. Fairy-tale performances with numerous gifts were interspersed with concerts and discos, and the final point of today's New Year's kaleidoscope will be a concert on Victory Square. -0-
