About Br18 billion will be allocated in 2009 for the implementation of the "Clean Water" program in the Vitebsk region
August 3, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. About Br18 billion is planned to be allocated this year for the implementation of the "Clean Water" state program in the Vitebsk region, the Housing and Communal Services Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
This year, eight facilities will be commissioned: iron removal plants, water supply networks, and treatment facilities in the agro-towns and district centers of Osveya, Velishkovichi, Lepel, and Senno. The construction of large facilities in the region's cities will continue. Among them are the first stage of treatment facilities in Polotsk with a capacity of 30 thousand cubic meters per day, and an iron removal plant with a capacity of 20 thousand cubic meters of water per day in Vitebsk. Br7.4 billion has already been utilized in January-June.
Along with the investment projects of the state program, measures aimed at developing the control and local monitoring system in water supply and sanitation continue to be implemented in the region. Production laboratories for wastewater quality control of centralized wastewater disposal systems are operating in Braslav, Postavy, and Lepel, as planned by the program. At the same time, to ensure regulatory requirements and improve the quality of public services, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has instructed district executive committees to create on-site laboratories for drinking water and wastewater quality control at each housing and communal services enterprise. Accredited laboratories are already operating at the unitary enterprises of housing and communal services "Tolochin-kommunalnik" and "Lepel".
The "Clean Water" state program for water supply and sanitation for 2006-2010 provides for the construction and reconstruction of 64 facilities in the region, half of which are in agro-towns. In 2006-2008, 39 facilities were commissioned. -0-
