Approximately Br2.5 trillion was allocated from the Vitebsk region budget for the development of the education system in 2012
Around Br2.5 trillion was allocated from the regional budget for the development of the education system of the Vitebsk region in 2012. This was announced today at the ceremony honoring the winners of the final stage of the republican subject olympiad in 2012 and the teachers who prepared them, by the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Terentyev, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
According to Vladimir Terentyev, much is being done in the Vitebsk region for the successful functioning of the education system. This year, kindergartens were commissioned in Vitebsk, Braslav, and Postavy district, and the construction of schools has begun in Sennensky district, Orsha, and Novopolotsk. In accordance with the Regional Program for Innovative and Investment Development of the Vitebsk Region for 2011-2015, the subprogram "Children of Vitebsk Region" is being actively implemented.
"I am pleased to note that based on the results of the final stage of the republican subject olympiad, the Vitebsk region team received 81 diplomas. Winners were representatives from 13 districts and cities of the region," noted Vladimir Terentyev. Diplomas were awarded to students of gymnasiums No. 8, 1, 2 of Vitebsk, Vitebsk Cadet School, gymnasiums of Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Kirov Secondary School of Gluboksky district, Gluboksky Regional Gymnasium, Mezhan Basic School of Braslav district, Parafyanovskaya Secondary School of Dokshitsky district, Secondary School No. 2 of Dokshitsy, Ushachi Secondary School, Osvyanskaya Secondary School of Verkhnedvinsk district, Secondary School No. 2 of B. Beshenkovichi.
In recent years, Belarus has been widely represented at international Olympiads, creative competitions, and scientific and practical conferences, consistently achieving success in the Olympiad for Union State schoolchildren "Russia and Belarus: Historical and Spiritual Community." In 2012, four students from the Vitebsk region became its winners.
"This success is not accidental," is convinced Vladimir Terentyev. The Olympiad movement in the region is a well-established system for working with capable and talented children. The preparation cycle for Olympiads is year-round. Training camps are held, base schools operate at local and regional levels, and the methodological experience of the best teachers in the region is summarized. At the same time, work with gifted children is carried out from the first stage of education. Olympiads for junior schoolchildren, intellectual creative competitions "Russian Bear Cub," "Zubronok," "Kolosok," "Kangaroo," "Informasha" help children find themselves, develop their abilities, form creative thinking, and acquire skills for making non-standard decisions.
More than 40,000 children in the Vitebsk region have the opportunity to develop their talents in various interest groups. They participate in competitions and festivals. The best of them represent the region at the republican festivals "Young Talents of Belarus," "Hello, World!", "Kalyadnaya Zorka," "Svyatochnaye Kola," "Art-Vacations." There are 85 exemplary and folk amateur groups operating in educational institutions. The choir "Zvonkiye Golosa" of Secondary School No. 3 in Novopolotsk, the ensemble "Vetraź" of Gymnasium No. 3 in Vitebsk, the exemplary studio "Belorusskaya Solomka" of the Center for Children and Youth in Polotsk, and many others are well-known both in the republic and abroad. "We can confidently say that all conditions have been created in our country for the development of children's abilities and talents," stated the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.
Honoring talented youth, sincere words of gratitude and deep respect were addressed by the Deputy Governor to the educators. "Only a talented educator, who is passionate about their profession, skillfully identifies gifted children and leads them to new heights, can nurture a talented individual. And there are many such educators in the Vitebsk region. This includes Honored Educator, Cavalier of the Order of Francysk Skaryna, currently a Deputy of the National Assembly, Mikhail Volkov, whose students once again achieved success, winning seven diplomas at the republican mathematics olympiad, biology teacher Alla Moralina, computer science teacher Veronika Laktina, and others. The teaching staff of higher education institutions also dedicates a lot of effort and energy to working with schoolchildren," said Vladimir Terentyev.
An analysis of the region's team participation in the olympiad movement shows that good results are achieved where local authorities pay serious attention to the development of the education system and give paramount importance to working with youth. As an example, the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee cited the work of the administrations of Pervomaysky and Oktyabrsky districts of Vitebsk, the executive committees of Orsha, Polotsk and Novopolotsk, Gluboksky, Shumilinsky, Lepelsky, which is aimed not only at creating conditions for identifying and developing children's abilities, but also at finding opportunities for material incentives and encouragement for talented educators and students.
