About Br4 trillion will be allocated in Belarus in 2010 for energy-saving measures
February 10, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. About Br4 trillion will be allocated in Belarus in 2010 for energy-saving measures. This was announced to journalists, answering a question from a BELTA correspondent, by Leonid Shenets, Director of the Department for Energy Efficiency of the State Committee for Standardization, during the VII International Exhibition-Conference "Energy and Resource Saving Technologies, Equipment and Materials", which opened today in Vitebsk.
Investments attracted from various sources of funding will be directed towards the implementation of innovative projects related to the commissioning of new capacities, the introduction of technical processes, and the modernization of galvanic production. "Their contribution is justified, as by implementing such measures, we almost double the energy resource savings," emphasized Leonid Shenets. For example, in 2008 and 2009, fuel consumption in Belarus decreased by almost 400 thousand tons, while three to four years ago, savings were only 150-200 thousand tons, he noted.
The Director of the Department also recalled that in Belarus, it is planned to reduce the energy intensity of GDP by 31% in 2006-2010. Last year, the reduction was 5% with a target of 8%. This year, the energy intensity of GDP needs to be reduced by at least 10%. "The tasks are very serious. Therefore, everyone needs to work effectively to achieve this goal," concluded Leonid Shenets. -0-
