About Br790 million of budget funds have been allocated in the Vitebsk region for the republican charity event "Our Children," as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Valery Kunashko, Deputy Head of the Education Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The annual event, which started on December 10, runs until January 11, 2013. During this short period of pre-New Year and Christmas days, dozens of targeted events are planned in the region with the participation of heads of executive and administrative authorities at various levels, representatives of different departments, enterprises, organizations, and public associations. Their focus will be on children from large and low-income families, foster and guardianship families, family-type homes, pupils of children's boarding institutions, correctional and developmental education centers, and children with disabilities. Children who are in city and district hospitals during the holidays will also not be overlooked. Congratulations and sweet gifts await each of them.
As part of the event, a delegation of 100 children, representing all cities and districts of the region, will travel to Minsk to participate in the New Year's charity festival at the Palace of the Republic.
The regional morning event with the participation of the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee will gather children from the Vitebsk region on December 28 at the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. A lot of pleasant surprises and a colorful show await the children.
In total, about 205.5 thousand children under 18 years of age live in the Vitebsk region, including 4.1 thousand orphans and children left without parental care, 2.6 thousand living in substitute families, more than 800 in foster families, and 121 children are raised in family-type homes.
