September 2, Rossony / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. About Br9.8 trillion has been allocated for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region in 2005-2010. This was announced today by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets, in Rossony at the regional festival of agricultural workers "Dazhynki," a BELTA correspondent reports. Thanks to the implementation of the program for the revival and development of the village, it has been possible not only to breathe new life into the countryside but also to create potential for the further development of the region's agro-industrial complex, the chairman of the regional executive committee noted. Over these years, 192 agro-towns have been built in the Vitebsk region, almost 200 dairy farms, including modernized and reconstructed ones, and over 30 pig breeding complexes and cattle fattening complexes have been erected. Significant re-equipment of the machine and tractor fleet has been carried out. The region's farms have received about 10,000 units of new agricultural machinery, with more than 7,500 units received in the last 1.5 years alone, including over 1,200 grain and forage harvesters. The implementation of the program measures has made it possible to create conditions for improving the quality of life for villagers. More than 6,000 apartments and houses have been built in rural areas, and social infrastructure has been developed, the governor noted. -0-
