About a hundred talented children have been awarded the Vitebsk Regional Council prize over six years
Around one hundred gifted schoolchildren and students of secondary vocational educational institutions of the Vitebsk region have become recipients of the regional Council of Deputies award for achievements in the arts over six years, a correspondent of BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
Since 2009, annually in the region, awards of the regional Council of Deputies are presented to students of institutions implementing educational programs of additional education in the arts, and secondary vocational education (music colleges, college of culture and arts). Recipients of these awards are winners of the final stages of international, republican, and regional creative competitions, and subject-specific Olympiads in vocational skills. Previously, candidates for these awards were children who had not been recognized at the national level, but for the last two years, recipients of the special fund of the President of Belarus for the support of gifted youth can also be nominated.
Based on the results of 2014, 16 young talents received well-deserved awards. Thus, 10 awards, each amounting to 15 base units, were granted to students of children's art schools – winners of international, republican, and regional creative competitions. Among the awarded schoolchildren are representatives from Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Lepel, but the vast majority of the recipients (7) are from Orsha and the neighboring town of Barani. These are mainly very young students of Orsha Children's Art School No. 3, laureates of international competitions in piano music, music theory, and fine arts. Incidentally, Orsha Children's Art School No. 3 was recognized as the best art school in the Vitebsk region in 2012. Its pride is 18 scholarship holders of the special fund of the President for the support of gifted youth. Last year, the school's students participated in 28 international competitions, where they became laureates and prize-winners.
Another 6 awards of 20 basic units each have been granted to students of secondary vocational education institutions in the field of culture. Here, the students of the Vitebsk State Musical College named after I. Sollertinsky faced some competition from three representatives of the Novopolotsk State Musical College and the Vitebsk State College of Culture and Arts.
