About a hundred Vitebsk residents underwent express fluorography today
March 24, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. About a hundred Vitebsk residents underwent express fluorography today during the republican anti-tuberculosis campaign "White Chamomile," Pavel Gredel, head of the organizational and methodological office of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Dispensary, told a BELTA correspondent.
The mobile screening was carried out near the large shopping center "Evikom." The results of the express fluorography will be known tomorrow.
The campaign is designed to draw people's attention to the problem of tuberculosis incidence. A free film screening was also held at the city's House of Cinema. Volunteers from the regional Red Cross organization conducted outreach work.
In the Vitebsk region, the incidence of tuberculosis has decreased by 36% over five years. Thus, if in 2005, 599 people with tuberculosis were registered, then in the past year, it was 486 residents of the region. Mortality has decreased by 35.3% (from 142 people in 2005 to 89 in 2009).
The stabilization of the incidence situation was facilitated by the high annual coverage of the population with preventive X-ray fluorography examinations. In 2007, 812,000 people were examined in this way in the Vitebsk region, 868,000 in 2008, and 889,500 in 2009. At the same time, the detection rate of tuberculosis in the past year was 81%. -0-
