Approximately Br150 billion will be additionally allocated for the development of healthcare in the Vitebsk region
February 25, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. About Br150 billion will be additionally allocated for the development of the material and technical base of healthcare in the Vitebsk region in 2010. This was announced today at a meeting of the regional executive committee by its chairman Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports.
The material base of the region's healthcare institutions lags behind the requirements of the time. The priority facilities for 2010 will be the regional clinical hospital, the children's regional hospital, and the infectious disease hospital located in Vitebsk. "The lag of medicine in a city with a medical university is unacceptable," believes Alexander Kosinets.
The chairman of the regional executive committee instructed the healthcare department to develop an effective system for staffing district hospitals and rural outpatient clinics before the distribution of medical university graduates. The regional oncological, dermatovenerological and other dispensaries need to provide organizational and methodological support to peripheral medical institutions.
The number of citizens' appeals to the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee concerning healthcare issues in 2009 increased by 30.6% compared to the previous year. The citizens' appeals raised issues of the organization of treatment in hospitals and polyclinics, staffing of medical institutions, and the state of the material and technical base. Every sixth appeal from citizens was recognized as justified. -0-
