The Olympic Youth Days in cross-country skiing were held in Horadok for the first time

The Youth Olympic Days in cross-country skiing are considered the most prestigious competitions in Belarus in this sport. It is doubly pleasant that the representative tournament was held for the first time on a new roller ski track in the tract Vorobyovy Gory in Gorodok.

Looking ahead, I will note that the new sports facility withstood the test with honor. According to Natalia Gapon, Director of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Olympic Reserve in Winter Sports, the guests unanimously noted both the quality of the track and its complexity, in a good way, with alternating descents and ascents.

Young men and women born in 1997-1998 and 1999-2000 from all regions of the country, except for Gomel region, took part in the competition. The team of our region performed very commendably, taking the final 1st place as a result of a tense struggle. Our guys have 7 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze medals. The teams of Mogilev region and Minsk are ranked behind it.

These competitions also became a kind of qualifying stage for the formation of the national team to participate in the European Olympic Festival, which will soon be held in Liechtenstein. It's just great that 5 out of 8 spots in the national team were won by representatives of Vitebsk region. These are Anastasia Ageeva, Yanina Sosnovskaya, Anna Koroleva, Alina Yuranova, and Nikolai Klementiev.

And on January 7, the republican youth championship started on the track in Gorodok, according to its results, participants of the youth world championship, which will be held in early February in Almaty, will be selected from our country. Let's wish success to the young stars of the Dvina region!
