Vitebsk TV channel operator detained a robber
In the evening of February 10, in the regional center, Vyacheslav Lazarev, an operator for the Vitebsk TV channel "Nashe TV" , apprehended a robber.
Around 8:00 PM, he was returning from his garage. Near the stadium of the technological university, he heard a scream and noticed a scuffle a few hundred meters away. Then, a girl fell to her knees, and a young man started running away from her. When Vyacheslav saw the young man hastily rummaging through the handbag, he realized it was a robbery. Fortunately, the criminal was heading in his direction. Vyacheslav rushed to meet him. The young man was running fast and only slowed down when our colleague resorted to a trick and started shouting, "Police! I will shoot!" Vyacheslav used to practice sambo. In the struggle with the criminal, he applied a chokehold and held him in that position until the police arrived, whom he managed to call himself. It was later revealed that the girl, having received two blows to the head, was in shock but still called 102.
Vyacheslav does not consider his actions heroic and says that every resident of the city should not remain indifferent to others. Yesterday, the head of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk, Colonel Alexey Shakhovich, solemnly presented Vyacheslav Lazarev with a letter of gratitude.
As reported by the press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Regional Executive Committee, in 2014, with the assistance of citizens, more than 60 crimes were solved, and this year's list is opened by the act of our colleague. For several years now, the Vitebsk region has been holding the campaign "Civil Courage", based on the results of which the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate awards distinguished individuals with cash prizes and valuable gifts. There is no doubt that Vyacheslav Lazarev will certainly be among the courageous people who are not indifferent to the troubles of others.
