Organizers of the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk expect many foreign guests

Many foreign guests are expected at the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk. This was noted by the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Vasily Zharko, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent after a meeting of the national organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk.

"This holiday should become a landmark event. We are celebrating the 500th anniversary of Belarusian printing and the 1155th birthday of Polotsk. Great attention will be paid to the theme of Belarusian statehood. Moreover, Polotsk will host this holiday for the third time, which means it should reach a new level. The progress of Polotsk is evident in the facilities we visited today. The Chairman of the district executive committee, his deputies, and heads of services reported on the work being done. We have approved the concept, and the holiday's symbolism has been developed. The city deserves special attention, and of course, many foreign guests will come here, including diplomats and writers from different countries. I am confident that the holiday will be held at the highest level," said Vasily Zharko.

The participants of the organizing committee familiarized themselves with the preparation of the main facilities for the holiday. They visited the Art Gallery, Polotsk State University, St. Sophia Cathedral, and the Museum of Belarusian Printing. Key aspects of the preparation for the Day of Written Language were discussed at the plenary session.
