Original works by Picasso and Dalí will be on display in Vitebsk

Оригинальные работы Пикассо и Дали можно будет увидеть в Витебске

As explained by Olga Akunevich, the Head of the Art Museum, securing such an exhibition is a great stroke of luck. When she learned that the exposition was being brought to Minsk, she contacted its owner – Russian businessman, collector, and philanthropist Alexander Shadrin, proposed to showcase the works of famous Spaniards in Vitebsk, and did not even expect him to agree immediately, moreover, to be glad to present his private collection in the homeland of Marc Chagall.

Alexander Shadrin owns the world's largest collection of Salvador Dalí sculptures. He also owns graphic works by the surrealist and ceramics by Pablo Picasso. The works were acquired over 15 years, including from the Salvador Dalí Museum in Paris, at the «Christie's» auction, from collectors, and in galleries and auction houses in Europe.

Since 2006, when the owner began organizing exhibitions, they have been visited by about a million people. Until the end of June, the exposition will be in Minsk at the National Historical Museum of Belarus, and then it will move to Vitebsk.

In addition, as part of «Slavianski Bazaar» , other significant exhibitions will be held: featuring our countryman, one of the prominent representatives of the Paris Art School, Ossip Zadkine (also from private collections), and the renowned Belarusian artist Alexander Isachev. The exposition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Kazimir Malevich's «Black Square» will present unique documents stored in the archive, for example, the original Charter of UNOPIS, a questionnaire filled out by the hand of the founder of suprematism, and others.
