Orsha and Tver signed a cooperation agreement

April 5, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Orsha and Tver signed an agreement on the main areas of cooperation today, the Orsha City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The document signing ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Orsha City Executive Committee Nikolai Lisovsky and the Head of Tver Vladimir Babichev. The economic sphere has been identified as one of the main areas of cooperation. The main task in this area is to establish close partnerships in order to create an effective system for exchanging business information and operational marketing aimed at ensuring long-term business contacts between small businesses, enterprises and organizations of Orsha and Tver. The first steps have already been taken for this: during a two-day visit, the Tver delegation visited the main enterprises of Orsha: the meat canning and dairy plants, OJSC Orshasyrzavod, the bakery, the flax mill, CJSC PTF Svitanak, and the Krasny Borets machine-tool plant. A meeting with representatives of the business community was held. The agreement is also intended to strengthen regional ties in education, healthcare, culture, sports, and the scientific and technical complex, and to promote the popularization of cultural values. "The signing of the agreement will give a powerful impetus to the development of bilateral relations between Orsha and Tver," the Orsha City Executive Committee is confident. 130 enterprises and organizations carry out foreign trade activities in the territory of Orsha. The share of the city's exports in the total volume of exports of the Vitebsk region as of the end of 2011 was about 6%, and imports - 1.2%. More than 40% of the region's manufactured products are exported to more than 40 countries worldwide. Among the sales markets developed in 2011 are Belgium, Brazil, Venezuela, Georgia, Spain, China, Switzerland, and South Africa. The export potential of Orsha is determined by RUPTP Orsha Flax Mill, OJSC Orsha Dairy Plant, Krasny Borets Machine-Tool Plant, OJSC Orsha Meat Canning Plant, CJSC PTF Svitanak, enterprises producing building materials, and Limited Liability Company Orbis. More than 66% of the shipped products go to CIS countries, including about 60% of goods exported to Russia. Regarding economic cooperation with Tver, the city executive committee noted that over the past year, products from Orsha enterprises worth $94,000 were exported to Tver. For example, the Orsha branch of the Construction Structures and Parts Plant of OJSC Treyst Beltransstroy cooperated with the trading company VolgPromTehSnab (products worth $38.8 thousand were shipped). Orsha Flax Mill cooperated with the firm LLC Taystra (products worth $35.8 thousand were supplied). In addition, in 2011, OJSC Zavod PAK concluded contracts with CJSC Tverskoy Ekskavator for the production of products worth $20.2 thousand, with the shipment of the first batch of goods carried out in the first quarter of the current year. Also, this spring, CJSC PTF Svitanak participated in an exhibition-fair of Belarusian goods held in Tver. -0-
