Numerous events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Konstantin Zaslonov's birth will be held in Orsha on January 12, the Orsha City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The events will begin with a rally-requiem at the monument to the hero on the station square. Representatives of all railway enterprises of the Orsha station, veterans, students, and the public of the city will march here in a solemn procession. Sentries of the honor guard will pay tribute in the form of a salute, and workers of the locomotive depot will lay flowers at the monument. Then, the "Touch the Feat with Your Heart" event will be held at the K.S. Zaslonov Memorial Museum, during which residents and guests of Orsha will be able to visit the museum for free and learn a lot about the famous underground fighter at the exhibition "A Man from Legend: The Zaslonov We Didn't Know." Among other events of the day are a thematic scientific and practical conference, excursions and presentations, and meetings with partisans. The main goal of all these events is to attract public attention, primarily that of young people, to the heroic pages of the military history of Orsha and Belarus as a whole. The organizers are the Orsha City Executive Committee, the Minsk branch of Belarusian Railways, the Museum Complex of History and Culture of Orsha Land, and the Orsha Memorial Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union K.S. Zaslonov. Konstantin Zaslonov is one of the most famous leaders of the partisan movement in the Vitebsk region. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he formed a partisan detachment from the railway workers of Orsha. From December 1941 to February 1942 alone, under the leadership of "Uncle Kostya," the underground fighters derailed six enemy trains, disabled more than 170 locomotives, the railway junction's water supply system, a diesel-motor power station, and destroyed over 400 Hitlerites. On November 14, 1942, in a battle with punitive forces near the village of Kupovat, Sennensky district, the legendary brigade commander died. -0-
