Orsha will host participants of the Russian patriotic campaign "Road of Glory" on April 22
April 21, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Orsha will be the first Belarusian city to host participants of the Russian patriotic event "Road of Glory" on April 22, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Ideological Work Department of the Orsha City Executive Committee.
In anticipation of the celebration of the great date, a specially formed train will travel along the Road of Glory. Its passengers will be veterans of the Great Patriotic War – those who defended the western borders of the USSR in the early days of the war, took part in Operation Bagration and other heroic battles, as well as about 300 representatives of children's and youth public associations and patriotic clubs from Moscow. The event will start on April 22 in the Russian capital, and the train will arrive in Orsha on the evening of the same day.
The program includes solemn rallies at stations along the route, visits to memorable places, laying flowers and wreaths, as well as excursions. In Orsha, a rally and concert will be held on an improvised stage near the monument to Konstantin Zaslonov, installed near the railway station. The people of Orsha are preparing a festive fireworks display for the veterans, symbolizing the first volleys of the famous Katyushas.
The route of the event passes through Moscow, Vyazma, Smolensk, Orsha, Minsk, and Brest. Together with the veterans, the youth will travel along the difficult path of retreat for the Red Army from Brest to Smolensk in the summer of 1941, the path of victorious liberation of their native land in 1944, and the return to Moscow, where in June 1945, at the Victory Parade, the victorious soldiers threw the banners and standards of the defeated enemy.
The organizer of the event is the Committee for Public Relations of the Moscow Government. -0-
