Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant became a resident of the Vitebsk FEZ

April 27, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. OJSC "Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant" has been registered as a resident of the FEZ "Vitebsk". The plant has become the first enterprise to implement an investment project at the new "Yuzhnaya" site, the administration of the Vitebsk FEZ informed a BELTA correspondent. In its new status, the aircraft repair plant plans to invest over Br10 billion in the implementation of a project to modernize production and create a new locksmith and mechanical workshop. The investment project also provides for the repair of capital-intensive units and assemblies for helicopter equipment. As a result, the enterprise will increase the technological level of production, significantly update its fixed assets with high-performance equipment, expand its production capabilities, and also significantly improve working conditions. During the implementation of the project, about 20 jobs will be created, and more than 30 existing jobs will be modernized. The "Yuzhnaya" site includes the "Severny Promyshlenny Uzol" (Orsha), "Lyos" (Baran) and "Aircraft Repair Plant" (Bolbasovo urban settlement) sectors with a total area of over 520 hectares. The increase in the area of the FEZ "Vitebsk" is provided for by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 674 of December 24, 2010. As a result of the expansion of the FEZ borders, its composition also included sectors located in Vitebsk. Now the total area of this free economic zone is over 2.1 thousand hectares. According to experts, the new FEZ sites have serious investment potential and will allow the implementation of interesting projects with the participation of foreign investors. For example, in the urban settlement of Bolbasovo, where the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant is located, suitable conditions have been created for the establishment of a transport and logistics center. The site in Baran, where RUPP "Lyos" is located, allows for the implementation of high-tech projects in the future. Additional territories create new opportunities for placing innovative, high-tech and significant investment projects in the FEZ, provide an opportunity to solve issues of efficient use of production sites, increase production volumes, build up export potential, and reduce tension in the local labor market. The FEZ "Vitebsk" was established in August 1999. Today, 38 investment projects are being implemented in the FEZ. More than 60% of the residents of the FEZ "Vitebsk" are joint and foreign enterprises established with the participation of investors from 15 countries, including Germany, Poland, the USA, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Russia, Canada, Holland, and Israel. The industrial potential of the FEZ is based on enterprises operating in the fields of machine building, food, chemical, fuel, and light industries.-0-
