The Orsha and Chashniki districts were the first in the Vitebsk region to complete the sowing of spring grain crops

May 3, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Farms in the Orsha and Chashniki districts were the first in the Vitebsk region to complete the sowing of spring grain crops, the committee for agriculture and food of the regional executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent. As of May 3, spring grains have been sown on an area of 182 thousand hectares in the region, which is about 71% of the plan. Farms in Lepel (87% of the planned area sown), Dubrovno (86%), Glubokoye (80%), and Tolochin (79%) districts are also close to completing sowing. All districts have begun mass sowing of corn, which is planned to be completed by May 10. A total of about 80 thousand hectares are allocated for this crop. Spring rapeseed has been sown on an area of 8 thousand hectares, which is more than a third of the planned target. At the same time, due to poor organization of work, the sowing of spring rapeseed in the farms of Liozno, Ushachi, Beshenkovichi, and Dokshitsy districts is proceeding at an unsatisfactory pace. The Committee for Agriculture and Food draws the attention of managers to the need to complete work on this crop by May 5-6. Two districts (Sennno and Lepel) have already sown flax, and farms in Polotsk, Liozno, and Beshenkovichi districts are completing this work. In total, flax has been sown on 9 thousand hectares in the region, or 60% of the plan. At the same time, this work is poorly organized in the farms of Sharkovshchina (only 8% of the target sown), Miory (25%), and Ushachi (30%) districts. Farms in the region continue to work with vegetable crops. Thus, potatoes have been planted on an area of 830 hectares, or 15% of the plan. Potato planting is being carried out most actively by enterprises in Tolochin (57%) and Orsha (74%) districts. -0-
