Orsha Forestry is mastering floriculture

Orsha Forestry is mastering a new direction – floriculture, as reported by the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association (GPPLHO).

In March, forestry employees planted bright annuals in one of the greenhouses covering an area of five hundred square meters: dwarf asters, gazanias, tagetes (marigolds), and cinerarias. In late April-May, they will adorn Orsha. Based on their initial experience in growing flowers and having studied the demand, including from the public, the forestry employees will develop a plan for the further development of this direction. The GPPLHO noted that the experience of Orsha Forestry in floriculture is very important for all forestry institutions in the region, as it can be utilized by other units in the future.

The Vitebsk GPPLHO includes 19 forestry enterprises, which are divided into 147 forestries, 436 workshop areas, and 1,649 forest patrol routes. The area of forests managed by the association is 87.7% of the region's forests. Over 6.5 thousand people work in the association. The main activities include silviculture, forestry, and industrial production, as well as secondary forest use.
